MISS TAY BEE CHOO
Miss Tay Bee Choo graduated from Manchester, England with a B.A. (Hons) Law degree, is a member of Lincoln’s Inn and was called to the English Bar in 1983. In 1984, she was called to the Malaysian Bar. In 1993, she was also called to the Singapore Bar.
Miss Tay is now in her 32nd year of practice.
After her initial 2 years practice as a legal assistant, Miss Tay together with Miss Kee Sze Ping set up the partnership practice of Sze-Ping & Tay in 1986. Upon the dissolution of Sze-Ping & Tay 1995, Miss Tay was a sole practitioner for about 3 years until joined by Mr. Henry Kang Fang Hawe as a partner under the practice of BC Tay & Kang.
For the first 12 years of her practice, Miss Tay was involved mainly in conveyancing and commercial work.
Civil litigation has in recent years featured more prominently in her practice.
Miss Tay is also a Certified Mediator registered since 2001 with the Mediation Centre, Bar Council, Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration. Currently, she is also exploring the avenue of mediation as an alternative process and solution to litigation and has had the benefit of successfully mediating under the auspices of the Mediation Centre, Bar Council. She was also sponsored by the Bar Council for training as a trainer and has been actively involved in conducting training and coaching in Mediation Skill Training Courses throughout the country also under the auspices of the Malaysia Bar Council.
Miss Tay had served as a member of the Johore Bar for 7 years - as Sub-Committee member from 1989 to 1991, and then as an elected member of the Committee from 1992 to 1996. Whilst as an elected Johore Bar Committee member, she was Chairperson of the Legal Aid Sub-Committee and the Education Sub-Committee.
Miss Tay had also been appointed and remains a member of Disciplinary Committee since 2004.

MR YAP SIONG CHENG
Mr. Yap Siong Cheng, is in his 32nd year of legal practice.
He completed his English Bar Finals examinations at the Council of Legal Education, England and was admitted to the English Bar in June 1983. He is a member of Lincoln’s Inn.
He returned to Malaysia and was called to the Malaysian Bar in 1984.
From the commencement of his tenure with the Firm, first as a Legal Assistant and subsequently as a partner in 1987, Mr. Yap has had extensive experience in civil litigation and has appeared in the High Court; Court of Appeal and the Federal Court as well as handling conveyancing, banking and corporate matters.
As a member of the legal profession, Mr. Yap had been elected and served on the Johor Bar Committee - as the Chairman of the Social and Charity Sub-committee for the years 1992 to 1994 as well as a member of the Court’s Sub-committee for the year 1987-1988.
He had served as a member of the Investigating Tribunal Panel, having been appointed by the Advocates & Solicitor’s Disciplinary Board under Section 97(2) of the Legal Profession Act, 1976 and now regularly chairs the Disciplinary Committee under the Advocates and Solicitors Disciplinary Board.
An active member of the Johor Bahru community, Mr. Yap is also a charter member of the Rotary Club of Tebrau having previously been President in 1994-1995 and 2013 – 2014. He continues to be active in Rotary and had also served as an Assistant Governor for the District.
Having an avid interest in the Performing Arts, he formed the Johor Society for the Performing Arts. The Society was registered in February, 2000. He is the founder President of the Society. The Society has as one of its objects, the promotion of Performing Arts events and activities in the State of Johor and successfully inaugurated the annual Johor Bahru Arts Festival in 2004 which is now in its thirteenth year and holds the distinction of being the longest running arts festival in Malaysia.

HENRY KANG FANG HAWE
Mr. Henry Kang Fang Hawe holds an LL.B Degree from the University of London.
Called to the Malaysian Bar in 1995, Mr. Kang’s career in law had however taken root as early as 1980 – starting as a legal clerk, Mr. Kang gained invaluable experiences and progressed through the various stages of conveyancing practice, from conducting title searches, attending to stamping of documents, despatch and registration at the land offices, attending to solicitors’ clients, managing the preparation of documents, supervising junior clerical staff and planning for work flow.
In 1988, Mr. Kang assumed the position of Marketing and Administrative Manager for a housing developer. In his five years tenure as a Marketing and Administrative Manager, he handled all aspects of legal documentations, from the preparation for execution of sale and purchase agreements, progress billing, to negotiating with end financiers, issuing undertakings and the ultimate conveyance of the property to the respective purchasers. An important and integral part of his duty was in Credit Control i.e. to ensure that progress payments were received by the developer with the minimum delay, and in dealing with the State Authorities.
Between the years of 1992 to 1995, whilst still attached to the legal firm of Mak, Ng, Shao & Kee, Mr. Kang completed his LL.B degree externally with the University of London. From 1st June 1995, Mr. Kang formed and practiced under the partnership of Radlan & Kang. Upon the dissolution of Radlan & Kang, Mr. Kang formed the partnership of BC Tay & Kang until the merger with the present Firm.
Mr. Kang possesses experience in the practice of land law, conveyancing, banking work and civil litigation. Mr. Kang had served as a member of the Investigating Tribunal Panel, having been appointed by the Advocates & Solicitor’s Disciplinary Board under Section 97(2) of the Legal Profession Act, 1976 and now regularly chairs the Disciplinary Committee under the Advocates and Solicitors Disciplinary Board.
Mr. Kang is also versed in Islamic Banking. In 2004, he was tasked with the drafting of an entire set of security documents for Bai Bithaman Ajil (BBA) facilities by a local Bank.
Being information technology savvy, Mr. Kang volunteered his service to the IT Sub – Committee of the Johore Bar from 1999 to 2001 and was instrumental in setting up the Johore Bar website.
Mr. Kang is also a Certified Mediator registered with the Mediation Centre, Bar Council of Malaysia.
